Color Crush: Blush

I’ve never really considered myself much of a “pink person,” but lately I’ve been having a major color crush on all things blush! It all started when Pantone announced that “rose quartz” and “serenity” were the 2016 colors of the year, and ever since I’ve been looking to add some blush pieces to my wardrobe.

I think it’s a great color to incorporate as we transition from winter to spring because it can soften some of your more wintery looks while not looking too springy. Also, there are so many blush options out right now that you can mix it in in the smallest way or as more of statement piece. And all just in time for Valentine’s Day!

So what do you think? Are you crushing on blush?

Wish List: Fall Basics

The first day of fall was Tuesday, and though it doesn’t especially feel like fall here in Texas, at least we can start gearing up for it! I am definitely a summer girl at heart, but there is something I love about the coziness of fall. And the clothes — bring out those boots, scarves and vests, people!

As usual with the change of seasons, I tend to do a big closet clean out and assess what I need to be on the lookout for in order to round out my wardrobe. I can already tell (pre-clean out) that I will need to invest in some staples this season. And here they are — my favorite fall basics!

fall basics

fall stripes

I know I said stripes were one of my favorite spring-time looks, but I’ve been seeing stripes everywhere for fall, and I love it! So much so that I actually already bought both the Old Navy dress and the Madewell skirt a couple weeks ago. They have been great wardrobe additions so far!

fall scarves

Throwing on a scarf is my favorite way to accessorize an outfit because they can serve multiple purposes (and I’m all about efficiency). They keep you warm (HUGE plus in a freezing cold office!), as well as add a little color to your outfit if you happen to buy a lot of neutral colors like me. I love the look of a plaid scarf for fall, but I’ve also found several other patterns that I like too!

fall booties

I surprisingly have never owned a pair of booties — weird, I know! It took me a while to get used to the look, but now that they’ve been around for a couple of seasons I think I’m finally ready to take the plunge and get some!

My Game Day Lookbook

It’s here, it’s here! Football season is FINALLY upon us! I can’t wait to cheer on my Horned Frogs tomorrow night!

Though I know not all of my readers are Frog fans, I thought I would pull together some of my favorite things to wear to a TCU football game that can easily be translated into another school’s colors.

When I go shopping for a game day outfit,  I look for accessories that I can wear for multiple games and clothes that are cool while still looking polished and put together (no T-shirts, here). I also typically like adding a little turquoise to my purple ensemble because it complements the purple so nicely. And you can’t forget the boots. No game day outfit is complete in Texas without cowboy boots.

With that said, here are some items I am loving, for all the upcoming TCU game days:

game day

  1. Gap Ponte A-Line Dress
  2. J. Crew Factory Sundress
  3. Kendra Scott Dee Earrings
  4. Anthropologie Jona Peplum Blouse

  6. Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace
  7. J. Crew Factory Printed Scarf
  8. Project Social T Lightweight Crewneck Side Split Tee
  9. Banana Republic Printed Faux-Wrap Romper

Wish List: Ear Cuffs and Jackets

I’m not one to jump on a “trend” bandwagon right away, and ear cuffs and jackets were no exception. It definitely took me a little warming up before I decided I liked the look and could actually pull them off. I honestly thought I didn’t dress “cool” enough to wear them. But overtime I discovered that if you stick with a more basic one, they can add an extra element of pizazz to your ensemble without being over-the-top.

What do you think? Do you like ear cuffs or jackets? Can someone explain to me the difference between a cuff and jacket? Here are some of the ones I have my wish list:
ear cuffs and jackets

  3. Baublebar Oz Ear Jackets

Wish List: My Gym Bag Essentials

Aside from workout clothes and shoes (obviously needed!), the three essential components of my gym bag include: water to hydrate, hair ties/headbands (9 times out of 10 I forget this one!) and the bag itself. Without one of these three things, my workout will be off to a slow start! So after all those work out classes I took last week, a post about my gym bag essentials seemed especially fitting. You can’t have a good workout without planning ahead, right?! (At least I can’t!)

Wish List: Jumpsuits & Rompers

I have been on a jumpsuit and romper ‘kick’ this season. To me, the beauty of a jumpsuit is the versatility to dress it up or dress it down and therefore wear for all kinds of events and activities. In the past, I have had “fit” problems with rompers — a lot of them being too long-waisted for me and therefore too big on top. But once I found a brand/style that fit me (petites sizes usually work better), I couldn’t help but want a few more!

Here are some of the jumpsuits and rompers I have my eye on (except for #3 because I already have that one!):

jumpsuits and rompers

  1. Anthropologie Pocomo Jumpsuit
  2. Anthropologie Violeta Jumpsuit
  3. cupcakes and cashmere ‘Roxbury’ Jumpsuit
  4. Ella Moss ‘Tangier’ Romper
  5. J. Crew Drapey V-Neck Romper
  6. Loft Embroidered Romper
  7. Clove Print Crêpe de Chine Romper
  8. Banana Republic Printed Faux-Wrap Romper
  9. Loft Sightseer Twist Back Jumpsuit

(NOTE: If you’ve tried rompers and jumpsuits in the past and they haven’t worked, don’t give up! I almost did too, but I’m sure glad I kept looking and trying them on. Know what style works best for you and try on different brands.)

Wish List: Parisian Chic

Happy Bastille Day! For the past few years, I have celebrated this French holiday eating all of my favorite French foods and dreaming of being back in Paris. I don’t know what it is, but I love everything about the French culture — from the food and wine to the style and attitude.

This year, I will be spending the evening at the annual Bastille on Bishop festival (the next best thing to being in France of course)! It will be an evening full of music, wine and all things French — I simply can’t wait!

In anticipation for this glorious evening, I have been brainstorming outfit options all week to best embody “Parisian chic.” After doing some research, here are the elements I have found you need to get the look:

Parisian Chic

  1. Relaxed jeans — Gap 1969 Girlfriend Jeans
  2. Fedora — J. Crew Panama Hat
  3. T-shirt (with French phrase = bonus points!) — Madewell Linen Tout á Fait Tee
  4. Simple jumpsuit — J. Crew Silk Strappy Jumpsuit
  5. Small, gold earrings — Madewell Staccato Stud Earrings
  6. Stripes — Banana Republic Stripe Sweatshirt
  7. Strappy sandal — Steve Madden ‘Stecy’ Sandal
  8. Pleated, midi skirt — cupcakes and cashmere ‘Santa Ana’ Pleated Skirt

Now, I’m off to eat crepes and drink too much wine. Au revoir mon ami!

Wish List: Red, White & Blue

Can you believe the 4th of July is already upon us? Considering it’s about the halfway-point of summer, it is crazy to think how fast the summer is flying by! This 4th of July weekend, I’m looking forward to relaxing at the pool and hopefully catching up on a lot of reading (I need to make some major moves on my book club book). Aside from that though, no major plans for me.

As with every “color-themed” holiday, I run into issues figuring out what to wear. I don’t own a lot of red clothes, so I will probably be sporting a lot of white and blue with possibly a hint of red if I can swing it.

If you are like me and don’t know what to wear, here are some patriotic picks perfect for your 4th of July celebration:
